On Saturday Party Island stepped right up in trip to contest a twelve furlong handicap at Kempton Park. Travelling well and in good race position for his regular pilot George Bass, Party Island was still going well after ten furlongs, but then started to tire and hang to his right in the latter part of the straight. Inside the final furlong he weakened and had lost a couple of places by the line, but he was only beaten under five lengths in seventh place this time - and he is sure to come on for having now had a race over this longer trip.
