Recent results feature Definite Dream and Barry's Boy both going close
The remarkable rainfall through September has led to some difficult going conditions across the country and this has not been to the liking of all of the yard's entries. Up at Kempton there was no joy for Miss Dubai or for Sweet Sister, but in the middle of the month there was still good ground at Worcester for Definite Dream. who was very unlucky not to hace won over two miles. Jockey Jonny Burke reported that her momentum was badly checked by a faller in front of her at the second last hurdle, and she was left five lengths adrift but closing very fast towards the line to finish a narrowly beaten second.
At Haydock Park the ground was soft for Barry's Boy, going over seven furlongs for Cieren Fallon. Racing prominently he raced just behind the leaders and kept on very well into the final fulong. Carried a little left his effort was not rewarded, but connections were delighted with him as he was just over two lengths away from the winner in what looked like a good nursery contest.
This week at Bath the soft ground became heavy after more rain, making the ground very testing indeed for the two runners. Sharma d'Amour ran a fine race in what seemed to be a very good one mile novice stakes. In only her second run she raced prominently and settled much better than at Lingfield, just finding the heavy ground tired her inside the last quarter mile. Jockey George Bass was delighted with the progress she made from her first run, and next time out she will earn her handicap mark. By the time Milvus had his race the ground was still more difficult, and this proved much too heavy for him as he weakened rapidly in the final furlong, having led with another in the first half of the race.
