Everyone in the yard so sad at the tragic loss of Power Home at Huntingdon
Tragedy struck yesterday in the third race at Huntingdon, where Power Home led all the way across the eight hurdles of the 2 mile contest and appeared to be really enjoying herself at the front of the field under Jonny Burke. On the run in however, after crossing the final flight a couple of lengths clear, she was stricken with a heart attack and faltered in her running so Jonny straight away dismounted just after the post and helped her onto her side where she passed away on the course. Power Home had always tried her best and was the winner of four flat races before schooling for hurdles from February 2020 - before the first lockdown scuppered plans. She really had taken well to hurdles, claiming her first win in March this season in a handicap at Warwick and looking certain to add further successes as a seven year old with so much to look forward to - so this is a great loss to bear for Denis, his whole team and the Poachers Dozen owners
