In his race at Lingfield Bartimaeus came with a good run inside the last quarter mile and looked all over the winner entering the closing stages, but he only got his nose in front momentarily inside the final furlong before a winning surge from William Haggas's favourite and he finished third, beaten only a neck and a head. Yesterday Sonnetina ran another very fine race as she found the ground had gone too soft for her at Salisbury. From a good high draw she found good cover close to the favoured stand side rail, but she had to wait to make her move at the distance. Tom Queally moved her out well, and she finished quite strongly despite not liking the underfoot conditions, however the winner was already well clear on the very soft going he had relished before. With better ground next time the Good Mixers' filly will have every chance of returning to winning ways.
