Saumur sustains injury at soggy Southwell
Flaming June it was not at Southwell, and a really lengthy downpour preceded the Mares Hurdle yesterday afternoon. After coming home from her race it has emerged that Saumur is very sore, and a subsequent examination from the vet reveals that she had pulled a muscle behind, probably in the early part of the race on a rain sodden track. This explains why she had not travelled so well through the race, and why she performed very well below the level of her first five hurdle efforts. Now Saumur will need to take a break and she will be given time to get her right back on track once again.
